game board
300 question cards
3 bonus cards
6 game figures
GAME PREPARATION
Unfold the board and place it on the table. Each player/team selects a pawn and places it on the HOME space of the board. Place the three BONUS cards next to the card box.
QUESTIONS
There are four questions on the back of each card. The first question is above the ORANGE band, followed by PURPLE, BLUE and GREEN.
There are three types of question cards:
- Picture cards - which have a picture on them that the questions refer to.
- Themed cards - where all answers have a common theme.
- Pot Luck cards - in which there are random questions.
THE WHITEBOARD
The card is a path from the external START field to the WIN ZONE at the end of the path. The path consists of colored squares that match the colors of the question cards.
Divide the players into two teams. Decide which team will play first. Choose someone from the non-playing team to be the Question Master (QM) for the first round. Throughout the game, people on the "non-player" team take turns being QM.
BONUS CARDS
There are three bonus cards. These are only used in team play:
- Mute Button Card - Prevents a specific player on the other team from answering questions during a round. Typically this is played to someone who is an expert on the subject of the card.
- Change Channel Card - allows a team to take another card if they don't like the theme of the first card drawn.
- Fast Forward Card - allows a team to PASS ONE of the four questions on their question card without that question being offered to the other team.
The MUTE and CHANGE CHANNEL cards must be played immediately after the image or theme is revealed. The FAST FORWARD CARD can be played after each question.
TO PLAY A BONUS CARD
Bonus cards are ready next to the question card box. Each team can choose one and play at any time. Each team can only use each bonus card ONCE per game. So if a team catches one, they play it and then pass it to the other team, who keep it until they want to play it. The card is then played into the game box.
ASK QUESTIONS AND ANSWER CORRECTLY
The QM takes the first card from the "Question" side of the box and shows the picture to both teams or reads the TOPIC. At this point, the MUTE or CHANGE CHANNEL cards can be played. He asks the game team the first question (ORANGE). If they answer correctly, they immediately move their pawn to the next ORANGE space on the board.
The QM then asks the team the remaining questions on the card. Each time the team answers a question correctly, they move their pawn to the next square that matches that question's color.
Once the team correctly answers the fourth question (GREEN) and moves its pawn to the next GREEN space on the board, it is over and the card is placed on the "picture" side of the box.
WRONG ANSWERS
If the player team answers a question incorrectly, MQ asks the SAME question to the other members of their own team. If they get it right, they get a bonus move to the next square on the board that matches the color of the question. If they don't answer the question correctly, QM reads the answer to both teams.
The QM now asks the next card question to the player team and play continues (question, turn, question, turn) as above until all card questions have been asked. This ends the turn and teams switch roles for the next card.
WINNING ZONE
If a team correctly answers a question near the victory area, but there are no more squares in the path that match its color, the team moves its pawn to the victory area, where it will remain for the rest of the game. The team continues its turn if there is any doubt on the current card after entering the victory zone.
TO WIN
A team in the winning zone must correctly answer two consecutive questions or a GREEN question to WIN. (EX., if a team breaks even after answering a PURPLE question, they must correctly answer the remaining BLUE and GREEN questions to WIN - OR if they break even after answering a BLUE question, they ONLY will have to answer the remaining GREEN question correctly to WIN).
If BOTH teams are in the winning zone and the playing team answers a question incorrectly, MQ asks that question to its own team members. If they get it right, he asks them (not the playing team) the next question. If they get it right, they WIN! (since they answered two consecutive questions correctly). If they don't answer the second question correctly, QM reads the answer to both teams. The QM now asks the next question on the card for the game team. The game continues until one team correctly answers two questions in a row or a GREEN question to win.
By mutual agreement, select one player to be the Question Master (QM) who will ask the questions for the first round.
CORRECT ANSWERS
The QM takes the first card from the "Question Side" of the box. He shows the picture or reads the TOPIC to the player on his left and then asks the first question (ORANGE). If the player answers correctly, he immediately moves his pawn to the next ORANGE space on the board. The QM then asks the remaining questions on the card. Each time he answers a question correctly, he moves his pawn to the next square that matches that question's color. After the player correctly answers the fourth question (GREEN) and moves his pawn to the next GREEN space on the board, his turn is complete and the card is placed at the end of the "picture side" box. The role of the QM then switches to the player to the QM's left, who takes a new card to ask the player to his left.
WRONG ANSWERS
If a player gives an incorrect answer, the QM asks each player who moves left the SAME question until one gets it right. That player gets a bonus move to the next segment on the board that matches the question color. If none of the players can answer the question correctly, the QM reads the answer to everyone. The QM now asks the original player the next question.
WINNING ZONE
If a player gets a question right near the VICTORY ZONE and there are no more squares in the path that match their color, the player moves their piece to the victory zone, where it remains for the rest of the game. The player continues his turn if there are still doubts on the current card after entering the winning zone.
TO WIN
Once a player has entered the victory zone, they must correctly answer any two consecutive questions or a GREEN question to WIN. Example: If a player enters the winning zone after answering a PURPLE question, he must correctly answer the remaining BLUE and GREEN questions to WIN - OR if he enters the winning zone after answering a BLUE question, he ONLY has who answer the remaining GREEN question questions correctly to WIN.
If more than one player is in the victory zone and the current player answers a question incorrectly, QM will ask that question to the next player to the left. If he answers correctly, he makes a bonus move as usual. If that player is in the victory zone, the QM asks him (not the current player) the next question. If he answers correctly, he wins! (since he answered two consecutive questions correctly). If he doesn't answer the second question correctly, the QM asks the question to the next player to the left, and so on. If no one answers a question correctly, the QM reads the answer and asks the current player the next question.
